And the configuator is !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . There’s some big price jumps this time around. Ecoboost Premium, up from the base jumps from $26,485, to $31,500. From there the GT is $35,995 and the GT Premium is $39,995. Pretty much 40 grand. The convertible starts at $31,085 for a base Ecoboost Convertible. The Ecobost Premium convertible starts at $36,100. As stupidly as before, there is no base GT convertible. It just goes Ecoboost Premium Convertible to GT Premium Convertible. Its $44,495. Shelby GT350 and R are $58,045 and $65,545 respectively.
I built an Ecoboost and GT in both fastback and convertible to see how much they could get (as usual).
Surprisingly this time around for 18', there are options for the base car so you wont have to drive around in a rental spec version like 15-17 V6 model was. Even more surprising is that you can get the performance package on the base model. With most options including the performance package and the new suspension system and 10 speed auto (which is a $1600 dollar option on all models), the base Ecoboost Mustang came in a $34,720. At that point you might as well spring the few hundred bucks for a base GT. Speaking of which....
There’s new options for the top shelf GT this time around. You can get Recaro’s in 3 colors (red, black and something called midnight blue, which is black Recaro’s trimmed in blue stitching), a Carbon Sport interior pack that comes with Alcantara door and seat inserts, and Carbon fiber on the dash and shift knob. After most options, including the performance pack, the GT Premium rang in at $52,570, a mere $5475 off a GT350.
The base Ecoboost convertible option the same way as the hard top came in at $46,975. The GT Premium Convertible? Exactly 10 grand more. That’s a nice chunk of change. Strangely, you cant get the Recaros in the convertibles. But Like I said the configuator is live if you guys want to play with it. What do you guys think about the pricing?

So the Mustang GT is now BMW money. I know it’s a better car, but that comes at a cost.

Hmmmm. All of those prices seem like $5-10k too high. I wonder how this is gonna play out for Ford.

Hmmm...still would rather have a Camaro SS 1LE. For ‘18 you can get it in either 1SS or 2SS trim levels, they did drop Krypton Green though.

Thats the thing now, you have to pay to play in most cases.

Yea the car is pretty much priced out of its normal buyer range now.

Are those cheaper? And just like Ford dropped Grabber Blue for the Mustang.

Pricing seems similar... Base 1SS being similar to the base GT and 2SS being similar to the GT Premium. The 1LE package added $6500 to the base 1SS price so about $41-43k depending on additional equipment and it was just as fast as the GT350.

which one is a better car again ?

I meant that the current mustang is better than a mustang of 20 or even 10 years ago

Any performance package adds a nice chunk of change to the prices of these cars.

And I’d argue for the driving enthusiast they are must have options as they really do improve the experience overall. I haven’t drive a Performance pack equipped GT but I did drive a 2015 GT Premium and thought it was terrible compared to a 2SS Camaro.

What about it made it terrible to you?

The driving experience. Car felt soft and had lots of body roll. It also felt pretty slow, made lots of great Coyote noise, but didn’t seem to go anywhere.

I still can’t stand the terrible visibility that has become, not only acceptable, but basically expected in this segment.
Couldn’t stand being behind the wheel of the current Mustang or Camaro.

Hahaha. Those prices are insane. Good luck with that, Ford.

The Mustang actually has better visibility than the Camaro. Its why I bought one.
![]() 09/07/2017 at 19:16 |

True. But the Camaro’s visibility is abysmal. The Mustang is more tolerable, but I would still prefer more visibility. Ended up getting a sedan over either of them because I liked the seating position and visibility that much more.

Yea the Camaro is like sitting in one of those old school bath tubs. It can be dangerous though. The Mustang has better visibility but even then its not its not much better. My convertible though is better with the top down.
